Benjamin est un moins que rien. Ceci change lorsqu’il rencontre le charismatique Max. Tout les oppose, mais ils partagent un centre d’intérêt : le hacking. Avec les amis de Max : Stephan, un impulsif, et Paul, paranoïde, ils forment un groupe hacker subversif nommé CLAY (Clowns Laughing @ You). CLAY est provoquant avec des hacks hilarants et représente l’évolution de toute une génération. Pour la première fois de sa vie, Benjamin a enfin un sentiment d’appartenance, et devient même attirant aux yeux de Marie. Ce qui fut drôle tourne au drame lorsque Benjamin et CLAY sont les sujets d’investigations du Service Secret Allemand et Europol. Avec Hanne Lindberg, l’investigatrice principale d’Europol sur leurs traces, Benjamin commence à réaliser qu’il n’est plus un exclu, mais le hacker le plus recherché au monde.
