Miguel Adrover, fils de fermiers majorquins, émigre au début des années 1990 à New York, où il trouve l’inspiration nécessaire pour ses créations de mode avant-gardistes. Lorsqu’il présente, à l’occasion de la Fashion Week de New York en février 2000, un manteau Burberry sur l’envers, il fait sensation dans l’univers de la mode. Ce show très prisé permet à Miguel de conclure un partenariat avec une entreprise puissante sur le plan économique. Mais la fortune l’abandonne presque aussitôt: le créateur de mode excentrique présente le 9 septembre 2001, deux jours justement avant les attentats sur les tours jumelles, une nouvelle collection inspirée du Proche-Orient. Pendant la nuit, il est soupçonné de sympathiser avec l’ennemi, et son soutien financier lui est retiré du jour au lendemain. De retour à Majorque, M. Adrover mène depuis une vie retirée, travaillant en dehors des projecteurs mais toujours avec succès. Ce documentaire est le portrait d’un libre penseur charismatique et créatif, qui ne considère pas uniquement la mode comme l’expression de l’élégance mais aussi comme le catalyseur du changement social.
