A propos du film :

Journée nuageuse dans la province vietnamienne Quảng Trị. Phuong, soldat de 19 ans, fouille le sol avec précaution, armé d’un détecteur de métaux. Lui et une quarantaine d’autres jeunes hommes passent deux ans dans un camp militaire retiré à la recherche de bombes et de mines meurtrières sur l’ancien front de la guerre du Vietnam. Le sourire aux lèvres et apparemment détendu, Phuong nous raconte sa mission. On ne remarque pas qu’il risque sa vie jour après jour. Hormis leur travail dangereux et le cloisonnement du camp, ses camarades et lui mènent une vie normale: ils jouent au foot, regardent la télé, rêvent du grand amour. Julia Weingarten suit le quotidien de ces hommes, partagés entre l’insouciance de la jeunesse et la responsabilité du soldat. Parfois, on se laisserait presque emporter par cette atmosphère de camp détendue si l’on oubliait la fragilité de ces moments heureux.
