À 12 ans, Young-ha est subitement confrontée au sentiment d’abandon et d’insécurité, quand son père disparaît au lendemain de son divorce sans donner aucune explication. À 15 ans, elle fait tout pour soutenir sa mère qui se tue à la tâche pour subvenir aux besoins de son second mari et de la famille recomposée. Elle tente également de consoler sa cousine et meilleure amie, Mi-jin, placée chez un oncle après la mort de ses parents dans un accident. À 19 ans, Young-ha passe beaucoup de temps en compagnie de son beau-père, pendant que sa mère travaille. Un jour, un événement va faire exploser le fragile équilibre familial et tout remettre en cause.
