Au centre du film With Out, le deuxième du triptyque débuté un an auparavant avec Gon'(Alice) : une ruine, au milieu de nulle part, peut-être pas tout à fait abandonnée. Le protagoniste s'y réfugie, fuyant une guerre invisible, son passé, ses souvenirs, souvenir d'une femme, souvenir d'une séparation, d'un refus qui semble s'adresser à l'existence tout entière, y cherchant un silence qui enfin ne serait plus à justifier devant les autres. Or cette circonstance ne rend pas la situation moins douloureuse comme le montrent les visites, réitérées bien que difficiles, presque expiatoires, à un cheval, - seul lui aussi dans sa prairie, comme sans maître - unique lien affectif qui subsiste. Peut-être jusqu'à la venue surprenante d'un chasseur qui révélera à tous, aux personnages comme aux spectateurs, toute la folie, toute la perte depuis le début, une perte, d'emblée, tel un terme vide et sans objet.
