A propos du film :

La grande prêtresse gauloise Norma entretien une relation secrète avec Pollione, proconsul romain en Gaule, avec qui elle a deux fils. Lorsqu’elle apprend qu’il n’a désormais d’yeux que pour la jeune Adalgisa, Norma est prise de folie : afin de se venger de Pollione, elle envisage sa propre mort et celle de leurs enfants.    Le Met Opera frappe fort pour le début de saison avec deux divas américaines au sommet dans cette perle du bel canto italien. Sondra Radvanovsky et Joyce DiDonato s’opposeront et se retrouveront dans les rôles de Norma et Adalgisa, sur la partition déchirante et dramatique de Bellini.
