Emprisonné 3 ans à la suite d'un braquage Ben sort de prison où il s'est converti à l'Islam. Tout ce qu'il souhate est renouer avec son fils Samir. Mais Samir ne l’attend plus depuis longtemps, et Nadia, son ex-femme, ne lui fait pas confiance. Mustapha, son nouveau "maître à penser", l’incite à croire qu’il ne trouvera jamais sa place dans cette société́, et exacerbe son sentiment d’injustice. Ben tente de suivre les règles de vie que lui impose Mustapha, quand il rencontre Lucie, qui ne l’aide pas du tout à les respecter... De travail de réinsertion en petites récidives, Ben va mener un combat pour résister à la haine, pour recréer du lien avec son fils, et retrouver sa dignité́ d’homme libre.
