Opéra en quatre actes de Giuseppe Verdi Avec Kristin Lewis (Aïda), Fabio Sartori (Radamès), Anita Rachvelishvili (Amnéris), George Gagnidze (Amonasro), Matti Salminen (Ramfis), Carlo Colombara (Le Roi), Azer Rza-Zada (Un messager), Chiara Isotton (La grande prêtresse). Ecrit en 1871 à la demande du Khédive d’Egypte pour le nouvel opéra du Caire, Aïda s’inscrit dans la descendance directe des travaux de Champollion. La réalisation des décors et costumes furent directement inspirée des représentations de l’Egypte pharaonique d’après les ouvrages de Champollion. Dans cette mise en scène stylisée, le metteur en scène Peter Stein livre une version qui renouvelle notre vision du chef d’œuvre de Verdi. L’égyptologie y est certes présente mais contenue de manière à ne pas enfouir les trésors d’une partition qui reste une des plus raffinées du compositeur.
