Colombie, zone Caraïbe, loin de Bogota. Eduardo, Bernardo, Chicho sont vendeurs de "chance", pêcheur, cordonnier… Ils se débrouillent. Ils chantent et sifflent le porro, cette musique qui leur court dans les veines, irrigation palpitante de la légendaire joie de vivre de ce coin de Colombie. La région n'a pourtant pas été épargnée par les injustices et la pauvreté liées à l'accaparement des terres par les grands propriétaires. Ni par la violence qui l'accompagne. Ils ont subi la mainmise de la guérilla, celle-ci à son tour remplacée par bien pire : les paramilitaires. Le territoire "pacifié", ceux-ci sont restés, et sous une tranquillité apparente rampe la menace d'un pouvoir mafieux dont on évite de parler. A travers la rencontre de personnages profondément attachants, le film tente de saisir quelque chose de la relation qui les unit à ce trouble paradis.
