Octave Granier est un avocat général intègre et intransigeant. Il recueille un soir Yvonne et son fils. Il adresse Yvonne, qui est modèle, à son ami Édouard Gravitch, un sculpteur étranger. Bientôt, Octave s’éprend d’Yvonne. Ils décident de se marier. Une nuit, alors qu’il regagne son domicile, l’avocat est attaqué dans la rue et dépouillé des dossiers d’une grande affaire d’espionnage. Peu après, Yvonne apprend que Gravitch est complice dans cette attaque nocturne, mais le sculpteur lui montre une lettre qui accuse Octave. C’est un faux. Elle le tue. Arrêtée, elle est accusée par Octave qui l’accable
