A propos du film :

Makbul est ne sous le signe de l'elephant. Son enfance s'est deroule au milieu des elephants sauvages ou domestiques qui vivent dans les foretes autour de son village, au sud de l'Inde. Contre l'avis de sa mere, il aspire a devenir un mahout, un metier dangereux qui consiste a debarder les tronc d'arbres abbatus a l'aide des elephants. Les annees passent et l'activite forestiere se transforme. Makbul est separe de Vikrama, son elephant, qui tue son nouveau mahout. Son proprietaire prefere alors de debarasser de l'animal et laisse Makbul l'emmener au loin. Un long voyage commence.
