Dans l'Allemagne des années quatre-vingt, Amrita et ses deux enfants vivent dans un grand immeuble de la capitale, au sein d'une communauté hippie à laquelle ils appartiennent. Epanouis et heureux, un grand bouleversement va cependant avoir lieu lorsque le nouveau compagnon d'Amrita décide de démanager toute la famille dans un des villages les plus conservateurs du pays. Evidemment, les villageois se montrent hostiles face à cette communauté loin de leurs valeurs... La cohabitation s'annonce d'ores et déjà compromise.
