Le 17 décembre 1962, Mamadou Dia, président du Conseil de la République du Sénégal, est arrêté et traduit devant une haute cour de justice. L’homme qui avait voulu oeuvrer pour la modernisation et l’indépendance de son pays, disciple fidèle et dévoué de Léopold Sédar Senghor, est condamné à la prison à vie, maintenu de longues années derrière les barreaux par son ancien mentor. Le récit d’une crise au sommet de l’État, dans un pays d’Afrique qui a toujours tenté de s’accrocher au principe démocratique.
