Naghib, architecte marocain, 40 ans, parfaitement intégré dans la société italienne, au point d'avoir presque oublié sa langue natale, rencontre par hasard, Amina, jeune immigrée clandestine qui survit par la prostitution. Le choc des cultures entre deux natifs du même pays est immédiat. Mais Naghib, enraciné dans son mode de vie confortable, n'a pas le courage de se laisser emporter par ses sentiments. Amina décide alors de disparaître de la vie de l'architecte. Quand celui-ci comprend qu'il ne peut plus vivre sans elle, il se lance à sa recherche à travers la ville.
